Joaquin Ceniceros is an award-winning artist based out of the San Francisco, Bay Area, who works in various media such as pastel, charcoal, and oil paint. Joaquin’s most recent work seeks to deconstruct the ideas of race, class, and socioeconomics while at the same time elevate humanity.

Ceniceros creates a dichotomy with loosely painted textured backgrounds against the carefully painted figure.  His pastel drawings use saturated color backgrounds to accent the rich black and white and greys of the monochromatic pastel in his work.

Ceniceros is a recipient of The Howard Slatoff Trust Scholarship Award and the Best in Show award from the Chabot Art Committee. His work has been featured in online publications.

Born and raised in Hayward, California a small suburb of San Francisco. Since a young age Ceniceros was drawn to the portrait having his friend’s model for him as he sketched their portrait. Ceniceros received his BFA from California State University East Bay.
